Exporting Data from the Data Manager

Data are normally exported from Rulex using one of the Rulex export tasks, but data can also be exported directly from the Data Manager task, either as an exported file or as a new dataset.

This export functionality is more limited in its options, but can be a quick solution if you do not have any particular requirements, and only want to export data from the Data Manager itself. Another advantage is that in this way you can export the current Data Manager view, including filters, groups etc., consequently allowing you to quickly export only a subsection of the dataset.

Prerequisites

• a Rulex process has been created

• the required datasets have been imported into the process

Procedures

1. Click the Export icon in the toolbar of the Data Manager task.

2. Select Export to file.

3. Browse to where you want to save the file.

4. Enter a name for the file.

5. Specify the file type in the Save as type drop-down list:

   • Tab Delimited Text (*.tab)

   • Space Delimited Text (*.txt)

   • Comma Delimited Text (*.csv)

   • Microsoft Excel 2007(*.xlsx)

6. Click Save.

7. Specify whether you want to export the attribute names, types or both. The export operation completes and the exported file is saved in the location you specified.
